WHERE DO I START???
"I have tried diet after diet.  I am frustrated!  They don’t work for me!  I love food.
I would have to give up every food I like and eat nothing but celery to lose weight.
I can’t live like that.

I hate exercise.  My body hurts even when I don’t exercise and I hate getting
sweaty.  People tease me or make comments about my weight, but oh well, big is
beautiful.  Right?  Unfortunately for me it is a hereditary problem-it is in my genes.
The problem is my metabolism-I can’t help it.   I have tried dozens of diets and pills
and spent a lot of money-but they just don’t work for me.

No one understands how I feel.  Food is my comfort.  I tell people I like the way I
look, but I am really ashamed of the way I look.  I might seem happy on the outside,
but nobody sees how much I hurt inside.  They don’t see the tears.  Yea, I lie to
myself and say it is OK I am this big; but down deep I hate being like this-I wish
things could change.  It is hopeless for me . . ."

Those were my feelings, my lies, and my justifications.  Can you relate?  Do you see
yourself in those words?  I know how you feel because I have been there for many, many
years.  But I want you to know, there is hope and a lifestyle that can help you accomplish
your goals.   I spent almost my entire life overweight, but I learned how to change this.

Saying use “diet and exercise” to lose weight is as under simplified as saying to a person
who knows nothing about fixing a car or computer: “Just replace the broken part and it will
work”.    That was full extent of my doctor’s advice.  My advice to him is, “Get real”!  So
before you try to perform brain surgery, you need to learn how to do it.  Diet4Living is
where you can learn how to lose weight and be healthy.

Phase 1 is a diet plan that works well for everyone.  For many people, it is the only part of
Diet4Living they would ever need to follow since it will help most people take off and keep
off the extra weight just fine.

In this phase you don’t count calories.  Instead you learn to like new foods that are healthy
for you and you start to replace the not-so-good foods.  You also start to exercise and
increase the amount slowly over time as your body gets stronger.  This is also the phase
where you look any issues in your own thinking that causes you to gain weight (e.g. eating
due to depression, tension, etc.).
